Ford has lost nearly 400, or 20% of the initial participants, from its dealer EV program, according to electrek. Under the program, Ford asked its dealers to “join us on an epic journey of sustainable expansion and customer excellence.”

The program offered different tiers which required different investments from its dealers. The lowest tier required a $500,000 initial investment and includes:

  • Repair & maintenance
  • One public DC fast charger
  • No EVs to show (built to order only)
  • No presence on Ford.com

The top tier required over $1 million of investment.

At its initial launch, Ford claimed 2/3 of its dealers had signed on. Ford said on Monday that the program has fallen to about 53% of its network.

In addition, Illinois state motor vehicle board ruled in favor of dealers who argued the EV program violated state laws.

Although Ford will appeal the decision, they will be relaxing requirements of their EV program moving forward.
