I once had a wise man tell me that best part about a Bronco isn’t any of the physical features but it’s where the rig can take you. After meeting LaMont Lucas Case, that argument has never felt truer.

LaMont was born with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a degenerative, hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy of the peripheral nervous system with no treatment or cure. The disorder causes nerve damage and leads to the loss of muscle and sensation of touch over time— especially in the legs, feet, arms, and hands.

Thus, finding physical activities to keep active and mentally stimulated while not causing more damage is quite difficult. It’s especially difficult for an environmental engineer who has worked and traveled the Caribbean, Central America, and Alaska.

As a lifelong Ford guy (even naming his Irish Lab Henry Ford), LaMont was looking for another vehicle other than his Ford Ranger that would drive a bit more comfortably on his 3-hour round-trip commute to Las Vegas. When Ford announced the return of Bronco, LaMont was intrigued. His cousin had a Bronco that he loved when they were growing up.

Then his wife called while on a business trip to say she found him the perfect Bronco. Lamont immediately jumped in his truck and headed out of state to meet her. His wife would drive that truck back while LaMont drove home in a 2021 Big Bend 2-Door Sasquatch.

With his new “off-road” vehicle, LaMont slowly started exploring the areas around southern Nevada, never straying too far off the road. Nearly six months after timidly exploring trails, LaMont learned about Bronco Off-Roadeo— an event that would change his life.

At Bronco Off-Roadeo, LaMont discovered that he did not fully understand the Bronco’s capabilities, let alone how to use them. Furthermore, it was his first real off-roading experience. He was blown away. And he would never be the same.

“That was my first real lesson in off-roading. My instructor’s enthusiasm and knowledge combined with her ability inspired me and showed me this was something I could do!” LaMont remembered. “I finished the day early because of my fatigue, but my passion to get out and explore was off the charts.”

And explore he did. Since his first lesson in off-roading in the summer of 2022, LaMont has toured King of the Hammers, dune bashed in Sand Hollow at United by Bronco ’23 & ’24, scaled the Moab rocks at Bronco Safari, and led his own overlanding expeditions in the mountains of Colorado and all over the deserts of the southwest.

As usual, with the love of off-roading came the love for mods. LaMont’s build is truly an impressive foray into modifications with only two years under his belt— a testament to his newfound passion that keeps him on his toes.

You wouldn’t guess that LaMont only started wheeling less than two years ago. He’s not afraid to send it. So much so that he blew out his drive shaft a week before EJS 2024. Luckily, with help from some friends, he swapped it out and made it up to Moab just in time.

When we asked him what his favorite part of his Bronco was, LaMont replied, “Being comfortable while tackling trails… so, I guess the heated seat.”

We met up with LaMont for photos and he just got back from Easter Jeep Safari 2024. True to form, he was preparing to head out of town again on a two-day trip through the Mojave Desert in California. Thus, the rig wasn’t what you would call “showroom ready.” But to really capture the essence of this Bronco, the Moab dirt was exactly where it should be.
